When St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened its doors in Memphis, TN, in 1962, founder Danny Thomas made it clear that each child to walk through the research hospital’s doors – regardless of race, color, religion or their family’s ability to pay – would be taken care of. Since then, no patient of St. Jude’s has walked away with a hospital bill, and has been provided housing and transportation for each of their visits to and from the facility free of charge – for both them and their family.
With only the best doctors, nurses, researchers and staff, St. Jude offers impeccable care with cutting edge research and never before seen drugs to help combat childhood illness. Pair that with the kindness and care every patient and family member receives, and you’ve got yourself a truly state-of-the-art care facility. What’s even more amazing is that St. Jude financially funds each of their hospitals off of contributions from partner organizations and individuals like you. That means every charitable contribution shared is given directly to the hospital, and put towards accommodations, travel, treatment, and food for patients and their families “because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”
St. Jude has been near and dear to the hearts of us at From The Farmer – and this year we’re proud to take part in their Wine Country Garden Harvest Dinner in Loudon County, an event in their culinary Garden Harvest series across the nation, highlighting local food in a beautiful garden setting in Virginia’s wine country. With dinner held at Salamander Resort in Middleburg, VA, food provided by our farm partners and prepared by top chefs – including Chef Carla Hall – we can barely contain our excitement at how beautiful and delicious it will be!
Seasonal, local produce from From The Farmer and Salamander Resort’s farm partners, wine from area vineyards and a festive Springtime garden party will make this event a night to remember! We hope to see you there.
