Brooklyn Delhi produces small batches of achaar, a relish that is India’s equivalent to Scriacha, harissa, or kimchi., Co-founder Chitra Agrawal always brought back batches home after her yearly trip to India, and after getting her fiancé Ben Garthus hooked on the stuff, they realized the that the only achaars available for sale in the US were salt-heavy, cooked with unhealthy oils, preservatives, and lacked homemade flavor. That’s why Chitra started making relish from fresh ingredients she found around her at home in Brooklyn. After selling out her achaars at pop-up events and cooking classes, Chitra and Ben decided to package them for everyone to enjoy.
