Great food begins with good people. Choosing the right partners is just as important as finding the right products. For us, it’s personal. Their stories are all different but the characters are always the same; we connect with people that have a passion for their work, a love of community and a transparent process for cultivating it all.
Dedication, attention to quality, a desire to share with others… These are traits we look for in our staff and our partners. We work with producers that love what they do and take pride in the food they create. Their care is transferred through each product, into every delivery, and can be tasted in each bite you enjoy.
Finding producers who value their role in the ecosystem is a necessity. We believe you can build community with food and that does not begin at the table. We choose partners who are good stewards to their land and look for opportunities to collaborate with their neighbors and connect with their employees.
From the Farmer is a mission-driven company founded on transparency and integrity. We expect the same of each of our partners. Our farmers and artisans are upfront about their growing processes and food making methods, and we stand behind their quality and practice.
- We believe good food should be grown and sourced responsibly. We buy directly from farms as much as possible, which enhances transparency and provides you with the highest quality possible. We also prioritize local growers, meaning your food will often go from harvest to plate in as little as 48 hours! During the colder months when local variety is lacking, we’ll supplement our selection with carefully chosen items from further afield (e.g. citrus from Florida). In all cases, we tell you where your food is coming from, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re eating and who grew it!
When selecting farmers to work with, we look for folks who emphasize the health, safety and wellbeing of their land. Our growers use non-GMO seed varieties, and we source only from farms that use no (or low) spray growing practices. Through these standards, we’re working to create a closed loop food system that minimizes external inputs (like synthetic fertilizers) and unnecessary waste outputs.
- We believe it’s possible to deliver better tasting, higher quality meats in a way that’s sustainable and healthy for our customers and the land. All of our beef and lamb is grass-fed and finished. All other animals are raised on pasture and have their forage supplemented with non-GMO feed. You’ll find no antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones here! Whenever weather conditions permit, our animals are foraging outside on open pasture, not stuck inside concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs).
Our seafood is sourced exclusively from fisheries recommended by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, a science-based advisory service founded to help consumers support sustainable fishing operations. Our fisheries actively engage in environmental improvement projects to help catalyze positive change in the food system and increase the population of threatened marine wildlife!
- Our partners infuse their products with a level of attention and passion that you can taste in each bite! We provide exclusively small batch, handmade foods that are made with mindfully sourced ingredients. No GMOs, artificial flavors, or unnatural preservatives! Whenever possible, our producers also make use of local and seasonal ingredients, which impart a level of freshness and flavor you won’t find at your neighborhood supermarket.
Beyond making delicious food, each producer we partner with also views their business holistically, considering how their company can make positive social, economic, and environmental impacts. Together with our producers, we’re working to build a better food system!
