SUMMER Community Recap

This summer season we’ve enjoyed the amazing fruits and veggies from our farm partners like 78 Acres, Tuscarora Organic Growers, Glascock’s Produce, and more. We’ve also had an awesome time with many various events in partnership with other small businesses, our FTF community and the greater DC community!

With fall on the horizon, we’re recapping the last couple fun and eventful months behind us. From neighborhood festivals to team bonding on bikes, big birthdays and small business collaboration – we had one fantastic (albeit hot) summer season! Check out what we’ve been up to below.

6/12: An Afternoon with Salt + Sundry
If you’ve never been to Salt + Sundry in either Union Market or at their cute shop off of 14th St NW, you’re missin’ out. But if you have been, you’re probably familiar with their love for amazing details, picture perfect home goods and fantastic food. We loved spending an afternoon getting to know their customers, sharing some fun summertime eats + drinks and enjoying the loveliness that is S+S owner Amanda McClements‘ shop.

7/10: FTF Turns 5
Boy, did we have an amazing time celebrating FIVE years of good food delivery!! Our whole team and many customers joined us to eat great food, drink local beer, wine and kombucha, and listen to fun music from DC-based band, Handsome Hound. We had a blast meeting so many of our customers and could felt so much FTF love! Read more about the birthday BBQ celebration here and check out our photo album here!

7/26: Urban Stems Influencer Gathering
We absolutely love our friends over at Urban Stems – they deliver fresh flowers in gorgeous bouquets throughout the DC area. While recently expanding their delivery area to Baltimore, they invited us to be a part of an event graced by some of B-more’s most stylish, culture- & community-oriented folks. We had a blast making flower crowns and chatting community!

8/8: FTF + The Dailey Method Cycle Class   8/25: FTF + SoulCycle Georgetown Community Ride
Any time we get to meet our FTF community offers us something to look forward to – and in this case, we also got to look forward to a fantastic cycling class taught by The Dailey Method DC‘s owner, Lynette, and at SoulCycle Georgetown. Not only was the energy high in both classes, but we all got an awesome workout in – and had fun doing it! We love partnering with different fitness studios or local businesses to get our FTF subscribers together for a special opportunity. 8/16: YMCA Farm-to-Table Cooking Class
Two great chefs from our team, Melissa and Marisa, taught an intimate cooking class in the beautiful demo kitchen in YMCA Anthony Bowen, located in DC’s U St district. The class was focused on seasonal, fresh produce, high quality meats and taught attendees how to brine and cook pasture-rasied pork tenderloin, watermelon-serrano salad, seasonal fruit-flavored frozen yogurt and more! Yum.

  • 9/18: FTF + Great Fall Cycle Class
    Join us on Sunday, September 18th at 4 PM as we spin our way through an exclusive FTF class, led by one of Great Falls Cycle Studio’s owners, Jenn. Conveniently located in the village center in Great Falls, GFCS offers a balanced workout for all levels in an intimate studio that’s the perfect place to just have fun!   • 9/21 + 9/25: FTF + Martha’s Table Community Days
    Celebrate the community with From the Farmer + Martha’s Table by lending a hand and feeding those in need! Martha’s Table is a wonderful local organization working to strengthen children, families and communities by making healthy food and quality learning more accessible; and we’d like to give you the chance to be a part of that through two different opportunities.
    ~ Assist with food prep by peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing produce for Martha’s Table’s program, McKenna’s Wagon at their main building on September 21st from 10 AM to 1 PM.
    ~ Be a part of Martha’s Table’s program McKenna’s Wagon on September 26th from 4 to 6 PM, a mobile food service that serves 150 – 250 hot meals 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Volunteers help to distribute and serve food to clients and unload the van upon return to Martha’s Table. Helping out on McKenna’s Wagon allows you to see the direct impact you are having on the community!
